My piece is entitled Bodhisattva John. it is in honor of my brain-injured brother, John, who has been my greatest teacher throughout my life. Forgive my photograph of the piece. It is cut off a bit, just in the middle of the eye at the top.

Mercurius

Mercurius photo SB beach oct 11 2014

This photo was taken on a Santa Barbara beach at sunset. It makes me think of the integration of opposites, pairing of shadow and light,  earth and sky and all of the elements in a beautiful, alchemical dance. The bird looks like the image of an angel, with the way the light shines off to either side of it and around its body. I am naming this photo Mercurius, the Messenger.

The Red Moon

Blood Moon

I meant to post this a couple of weeks ago when I awoke at 3:30am and stepped outside to view the blood moon. I cropped this photo so that the moon could be seen more clearly as it peeked through the branches of the tree. It looks like a fresh peach hanging from a branch. There is something quite haunting and beautiful about pondering our place in this vast universe. What a blessing to witness the reflection of the sun in this special way, just before an eclipse.

“Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.”

Happy Mother’s Day

Mother and child dance

To all the mothers of this earth

To Mother Earth

To all of those who “mother” others, regardless of biological relation

To the compassionate mothering of ourselves as each and every one us engages in self-care practices

To our spiritual mothers who grace all of the many spiritual traditions of our shared world

To the fierce protector mother and the ever loving and receptive heart of mother

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Blessings

Guided Visualization and the Noetic

With

Juliet Rohde-Brown, PhD

Non-local consciousness has always been the major area of inquiry for IONS. How we make choices around what we visualize can have a crucial impact on our overall health and in our perceptions of what is possible individually and collectively. Guided imagery is a powerful avenue for tuning into that which gives life meaning. In this interactive presentation, we will engage in creative dialogue with important symbols of life force that emerge in unique ways for each individual. Opening to an awareness of non-local consciousness offers an opportunity for deep embodied presence in the here and now.

Juliet Rohde-Brown, Ph.D., is an integrative psychologist and educator who was a recent President of Imagery International, an organization of health-care professionals devoted to honoring the imagination in healing. A member of Spiritual Directors International and past Circle Member of IONS, she is the Interim Chair of the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University and has a private psychotherapy practice in Carpinteria. Her training with meditative practices and guided imagery impact her research, writing, and presentations. She is the author of the book, Imagine Forgiveness: A Guide for Creating a Joyful Future.
