The Great Bell Chant as a Blessing for the New Year
The Great Bell Chant as a Blessing for the New Year
“I live my life in widening circles that reach out across the world.” (Rainer Maria Rilke)
In the seven-minute YouTube video titled The Great Bell Chant (The End of Suffering) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1ZwaEzMtJw, we see images of beings and nature accompanied by music composed by Gary Malkin, chants sung by Brother Phap Niem, and spoken words by the late Thich Nhat Hanh. I have been tuning into this video for several years and sharing it with others. The video brings tears to my eyes and a feeling of vastness, open-heartedness, and love. It invites an alchemically embodied experience where subject and object are merely semantic constructs. I feel that watching and listening to this brief video is a sacred experience. May it be a blessing for the year to come and many more.
